The 70 Week Prophecy

The 70 week prophecy located in Daniel 9 is one of the most remarkable prophecies we will study. In it we will see that Christ's life was predicted six centuries before he came. The fact that several specific events in history match the timeline of this prophecy makes it one of the most compelling evidences of the supernatural inspiration of Scripture. Just like most of Daniel's prophecies, this one provides the basis for understanding other of his prophecies.

Recall the various references in the New Testament indicating that Christ's life was predicted by scripture:

Please also note that on several occasions how Christ's life fulfilled an appointed time:
    • Gal 4:4 - In the fullness of time
    • Mk 1:15 - after baptism - the time is fulfilled
    • John 7:6 - My time is not yet come
    • Mt 26:18 - My time is at hand
    • John 12:23 - The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.

Consider the possibility that, when Christ said, "My time is not yet come" that he was referring to specific places in Scripture that predicted the very day when He would be crucified. When we look at Daniel 9 we will find those texts.
