The story of the people of Israel is more contorted than the others in that it spans a long time and there are actually two stories going on. One is the early Children of Israel from leaving Egypt, through the delay of the wilderness to final victory as they enter the Promised Land. This story parallels quite nicely with the others.

Then the other story is about the Jewish nation who attempts to achieve acceptance with God through good works, being confronted by Christ, the cross, the resurrection and finally Stephen. Unfortunately this second story does not end in victory. In fact, the way in which it differs from the others stands out in marked contrast. The question marks in this column indicate not that one is left to speculate on how this might have been fulfilled. Instead the question marks at the end of the column are where God's plan was aborted due to the unwillingness on the part of the Jewish nation to repent. This column stands as a strong warning to us that we should not follow in the path of the Jewish nation.
